Having grown up with watching my Poppy paint and draw, I've always loved art and its many styles and techniques. One of my fondest memories of these early years of drawing--before I had any real instruction or preference-- was drawing and cutting out little paper dolls for my classmates to play with (and I even got some requests). In third grade, after seeing a friend bring in a picture of her own anime character, I was instantly drawn to the style and have been practicing it ever since.
Though I have moved into the digital realm, I still draw my characters with pencil and paper, and then scan it into the computer to once again draw it. My main tools of the trade are Paint Tool SAI and Photoshop C3, and though I have become accustomed to them, I am still learning every day.
What keeps me drawing--despite the load of work I need to do academically--is the feeling of creating something out of nothing. I love to bring characters and their voices into the world, and hopefully bring some happiness to others. I feel that drawing is a very magical process, as it astounds me every time that something that was once in my head can now be seen by everyone else.
